At Kobarid Museum learn about one of the bloodiest battles of World War I, which Ernest Hemingway vividly described in his novel "A Farewell to Arms." Unlike most of the battles, which were fought in the trenches, this one took place on hilly terrain. A very modern two-building complex houses graphic exhibits documenting the course of the fighting and the lives of soldiers. See photographs, uniforms, weapons, personal items, maps, and large landscape models. Most of the text is in English and you can also watch a 10-minute film in several languages to get the big picture. We visited the museum after 20+ years. It has changed a lot, modernized. It is a great museum and a huge reminder of what a human should never repeat.

Very informative. Step by step explanation about the area during WW1. It was explained that the usual exhibition of personal stories was changed into the detailed history, do demonstrate the futility and idiocy of war. The second and third floor have a more typical exhibition, with pieces and photos of soldiers. There is even a small part detailing the history of Kobarid all the way back to Roman times.
Excellent, very well presented. Thought provoking. Recommended for a vist.
