The Kozjak Brook cascades over many slopes, forming the six picturesque Kozjak Waterfall along its way. Walk from Kobarid through a lush forest along the river to reach Great Kozjak, one of the two accessible falls. On your way there you can make a short detour and see the remains of the World War I bunkers on the right. Cross a swing bridge and walk over a slippery limestone path to reach the wooden observation deck. Plunging from a height of 15 m (50 ft), the waterfall carves a dim underground chamber that looks like a rocky amphitheater. The chamber's increasingly narrow walls resemble karst caves and the vast turquoise pool covers its bottom. Beautiful waterfall, well worth of your visit. There is a slow half hour walk from the parking lot to the waterfall. The gravel road is wide and well maintained, easy to access for the elderly or small children. Better not to go with a stroller. There is a parking fee and an entrance fee during the tourist season but in the late fall/winter it's free.

The waterfall itself was very busy even though you have to pay 5€ to enter. We have seen prettier ones that were free. However, if you park on the other side of the soca river, you will cross a hanging bridge. Next to the bridge you can descend down to the river for a great swim, beware of the cold river temperature 😄
