Founded in 1918, National Gallery features a permanent exhibit of art from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Also interesting, a Baroque fountain in the central gallery, restored in 2008. Notable artists exhibited there include famed names from both Slovenia and rest of Europe. Go to the website to find information about a guided tour in English, an ideal way to experience the permanent collection or any temporary exhibits. • I enjoyed this museum. It is on a scale that is doable without being overwhelming. I also enjoyed the cafe. I was not familiar with a lot of the artists as the focus was Slovenian artists, but that...

  • Reserve your time and visit Ljubljana if you are near enough till July 30. Ljubljana is a place for traditional art prints from 1955 till today. They just organised a new exhibition of Rembrandt...

  • amazing pieces but you need a bunch of time if you want to see all the exhibitions (around 2 hours total). i would recommend if you have the mental capacity to invest into the artwork for that long. it had paintings and sculptures from renaissance up until the 60s-70s (and some modern pieces as well), a whole art experience in my opinion.
  • The gallery was nice but very small, they had a few rooms dedicated to medieval to 18th century art and two short time exhibitions. There are only a few places to sit down and enjoy the art. I also thought it was super cold, definitely bring a sweater or cardigan. Don't forget to bring only a small bag, big bags gave to be left in a small locker.
