The House of Minerals has grown from a rich private collection of an amateur collector Jože Rihtar from Velenje, who has been collecting minerals for a number of years. The House of Minerals which is operating under the auspice of the Velenje Museum, exhibits over 2,000 samples of minerals collected from all over the world. In addition to the exhibition of minerals, a number of workshops for pre-school and school children as well as other groups are organized in the House of Minerals. In cooperation with the Slovenian Museum of Natural History, the Geological Survey of Slovenia and other experts from the field of mineralogy, paleontology and gemology, different lectures are organized at the House of Minerals, in addition to periodical guest exhibitions.Using our international travel planner, Velenje attractions like The House of Minerals can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.
