10 days in Kranj & Bled Itinerary

The capital of Slovenia's Alps, Kranj allows you to stand with one foot in the nature and another in a town that's both a cultural center and a base for outdoor activities.

Start off your visit on the 10th (Thu): explore the galleries of Škofja Loka Castle, take in the views from Capuchin Bridge, then snap pictures at Nesk's Footbridge, then appreciate the history behind Franja Partisan Hospital, and finally enjoy breathtaking views from Pungert. On the next day, stroll around Volčji Potok Arboretum, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Velika Planina, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Kancijan Church, and finally admire the local landmark of Plečnik's Arcade & Fountain.

If you are flying in from Italy, the closest major aiport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. In August in Kranj, expect temperatures between 31°C during the day and 15°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sat) so you can go by car to Bled.

The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.

You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bled: Bovec (Ravelnik Open Air Museum & Soča Valley), Bohinjsko Jezero (Church of St John the Baptist, Lake Bohinj, &more) and Peričnik Falls (in Mojstrana). Spend the 13th (Sun) exploring nature at Triglav National Park. There's still lots to do: kick your exploration up a notch at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, identify plant and animal life at Vršič Pass, tour the pleasant surroundings at Straža Bled, and glide through the air with a parasailing or paragliding tour.
