Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Explore Ljubljana's surroundings by going to Vintgar Gorge (in Zgornje Gorje), Bled (Bled Island, Triglav National Park, &more) and Postojna (Postojna Cave & Predjama Castle). There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Ljubljana Old Town, explore the activities along Ljubljanica River, have fun and explore at House of Illusions, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Cathedral of St. Nicholas.

Bilbao, Spain to Ljubljana is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Traveling from Bilbao in August, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Ljubljana, with lows of 15°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Thu) so you can go by car to Piran.

Piran

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Fri): admire the striking features of Casa Veneziana, Head underground at Škocjan Caves, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Strunjan Nature Reserve. Here are some ideas for day two: see the interesting displays at Sergej Mašera Maritime Museum, then make a trip to Walls of Piran, then learn more about the world around you at Magical World of Shells Museum, and finally don't miss a visit to Tartini Square.

Drive from Ljubljana to Piran in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Ljubljana in August, plan for somewhat warmer nights in Piran, with lows around 20°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Bovec.

Bovec

In the north-west part of Slovenia, Bovec sits in an area known for its rich and colorful culture and history.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Sun): take in the dramatic scenery at Kozjak Waterfall, admire the verdant scenery at Soča Valley, and then get outside with Outdoor Activities. On your second day here, paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour, then don't miss a visit to Fort Hermann, and then look for all kinds of wild species at Vršič Pass.

Traveling by car from Piran to Bovec takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a bus. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Piran in August: high temperatures in Bovec hover around 28°C and lows are around 14°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Mon) so you can drive to Bohinjsko Jezero.

Bohinjsko Jezero

The mirror-like waters of the largest glacial lake in Slovenia make Bohinjsko Jezero one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country.
Kick off your visit on the 17th (Tue): stroll the grounds of Ukanc Military Cemetery, take in the dramatic scenery at Slap Grmečica, then admire the sheer force of Mostnica Gorge, then fly like a bird with a parasailing or paragliding tour, and finally contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Bohinj. On the next day, take in the dramatic scenery at Savica Waterfall and then take in the awesome beauty at Vogel.

You can drive from Bovec to Bohinjsko Jezero in 2 hours. Another option is to take a bus. In August in Bohinjsko Jezero, expect temperatures between 28°C during the day and 14°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 18th (Wed) to allow time for travel back home.
