Bohinjsko Jezero

The mirror-like waters of the largest glacial lake in Slovenia make Bohinjsko Jezero one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country.
On the 25th (Fri), take in the awesome beauty at Vogel and then contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Bohinj. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 26th (Sat): get all the equipment you need at Alpinsport, then examine the collection at Museum of Alpine Dairy Farming, and then take in the dramatic scenery at Savica Waterfall.

Getting from Ljubljana to Bohinjsko Jezero by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. In September, plan for daily highs up to 21°C, and evening lows to 10°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 26th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Dobrovo.

Near the Italian border, Dobrovo remains a small settlement in a region known for its hilly orchards, vineyards, and olive groves.
Change things up with these side-trips from Dobrovo: Tolmin Gorge (in Tolmin) and Kobarid (Escape Inc. Kobarid, Kozjak Waterfall, &more). There's lots more to do: make a trip to Šmartno, get outside with Magma X, learn about winemaking at Vinoteka Brda, and take in the views from Solkan Bridge.

Piran

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Kick off your visit on the 30th (Wed): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Koper Cathedral and Bell Tower, make a trip to Walls of Piran, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of St. Francis of Assisi, then take in the spiritual surroundings of St. George's Church, and finally don't miss a visit to Tartini Square.
