12 days in Bled, Piran & Ljubljana Itinerary

The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.

Venture out of the city with trips to Vršič Pass (in Kranjska Gora), Bohinjsko Jezero (Church of St John the Baptist, Lake Bohinj, &more) and Bovec (Ravelnik Open Air Museum, Zipline, &more). Spend the 14th (Mon) exploring nature at Triglav National Park. Berlin, Germany to Bled is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. June in Bled sees daily highs of 29°C and lows of 14°C at night. On the 18th (Fri), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Piran.

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.

Getting from Bled to Piran by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Bled in June, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be somewhat warmer in Piran, with lows of 18°C. On the 20th (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Ljubljana.

Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.

You'll find plenty of places to visit near Ljubljana: Predjama Castle (in Postojna), Rakov Škocjan Landscape Park (in Rakek) and Vino Zorz (in Slap). Spend the 22nd (Tue) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Next up on the itinerary: stop by Ljubljana Old Town, take in the views from Dragon Bridge, glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, and explore the historical opulence of Ljubljana Castle.
