While on holiday in Idrija, you'll be able to see a World Heritage Site featuring one of the largest mercury mines in the entire world.

You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Planina Cave and Idrija Kamšt. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Idrija: Cerknica (Kebe Museum of Lake Cerknica, Slivnica, &more), Ilirska Bistrica (Sušec Waterfall & Mašun Castle) and Rakov Škocjan Landscape Park (in Rakek). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Hg Smeltery, Head underground at Postojna Cave, contemplate the long history of Anthony's Shaft Mining Museum, and step into the grandiose world of Predjama Castle.
