Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.

Get out of town with these interesting Piran side-trips: Postojna (Planina Cave & Predjama Castle), Tolmin Gorge (in Tolmin) and Vipava River Spring (in Vipava). There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to Tartini Square, get curious at Magical World of Shells Museum, take in the spiritual surroundings of St. George's Church, and visit the horses at Lipica Stud Farm.
