13 days in Ljubljana & Central Slovenia Itinerary

Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.

Step off the beaten path and head to Ljubljanica River and Cathedral of St. Nicholas. Popular historic sites such as Cankarjevo Nabrežje and St. Bartholomew's Church are in your itinerary. Get out of town with these interesting Ljubljana side-trips: Škofja Loka (Mary's Shrine with St. Rocco and St. Anthony, Škofja Loka Castle, &more). Spend the 10th (Thu) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Dedicate the 12th (Sat) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's still lots to do: examine the collection at House of Illusions, take an in-depth tour of National Museum of Contemporary History, learn the secrets of beer at a beer tour and tasting, and stroll around Tivoli Park.

Barcelona, Spain to Ljubljana is an approximately 7.5-hour combination of flight and shuttle. You can also fly; or drive. Traveling from Barcelona in August, expect little chillier with lows of 15°C in Ljubljana. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 19th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
