14 days in Ljubljana, Maribor & Koper Itinerary

Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.

Kick off your visit on the 19th (Tue): stroll around Tivoli Park. If you are flying in from Germany, the closest major aiport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. In July, plan for daily highs up to 32°C, and evening lows to 17°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 21st (Thu) so you can catch the shuttle to Maribor.

You can take a shuttle from Ljubljana to Maribor in 1.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. July in Maribor sees daily highs of 32°C and lows of 18°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Sun) so you can go by car to Koper.

A bridge between the Mediterranean and alpine regions of Slovenia, Koper is a small town with big appeal.

You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at St. George's Church and Škocjanski Zatok Nature Reserve. Step out of Koper to go to Vipava and see Wine Tours & Tastings, which is approximately 44 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: do a tasting at Vinakoper, see the interesting displays at Koper Regional Museum, see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of St. Francis of Assisi.

You can drive from Maribor to Koper in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. Expect a daytime high around 35°C in July, and nighttime lows around 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Ljubljana.

You'll discover tucked-away gems like Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Mala Osojnica. Step out of Ljubljana to go to Bled and see Bled Island, which is approximately 50 minutes away. Dedicate the 31st (Sun) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. Spend the 1st (Mon) on a tasty journey with a beer tour and tasting. Traveling by car from Koper to Ljubljana takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Traveling from Koper in July, expect Ljubljana to be slightly colder, temps between 32°C and 17°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
