The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Bled Castle and Oplen House Museum. Visiting Vintgar Gorge and Bled Island will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Bled side-trips: Lake Bohinj (in Bohinjsko Jezero), Planica Valley (in Rateče) and Vršič Pass (in Kranjska Gora). Spend the 25th (Sun) exploring nature at Triglav National Park. Lyon, France to Bled is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and shuttle; or drive. Traveling from Lyon in July, expect little chillier with lows of 17°C in Bled. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Wed) to allow enough time to take a train to Tolmin.

Piran

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Step out of the city life by going to Strunjan Nature Reserve and Portorož Beach. Do some cultural sightseeing at Magical World of Shells Museum and St. George's Church. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Piran: Boris Lisjak Winery (in Dutovlje) and Škocjan Caves (in Škocjan). There's still lots to do: see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, kick back and relax at Svetilnik Beach, stroll through Zusterna Beach, and look for all kinds of wild species at Škocjanski Zatok Nature Reserve.

Drive from Tolmin to Piran in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. In July in Piran, expect temperatures between 35°C during the day and 21°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Tue) early enough to go by car to Ljubljana.
