Milan, Italy to Ljubljana is an approximately 4-hour combination of flight and shuttle. You can also drive; or take a shuttle. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Milan in August, with highs in Ljubljana at 31°C and lows at 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Tue) so you can drive to Novo Mesto.

Novo Mesto — 3 nights

Novo Mesto is the city on a bend of the Krka River in the City Municipality of Novo Mesto in southeastern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia. Get in touch with nature at Žumberak Mountains and Golf Grad Otočec. Discover out-of-the-way places like Krokar Primeval Forest and River Krupa Spring. Explore Novo Mesto's surroundings by going to Veliki Rog (in Kočevje) and Galerija Kambič (in Metlika). For most visitors on holiday in Podcetrtek, thermal waters remain the big draw.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Terme Čatež and Velenje Beach. Kids will appreciate attractions like Jelenov Greben Homestead and Thermal Park Aquluna.
