Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Step off the beaten path and head to Cathedral of St. Nicholas and Anthony's Shaft Mining Museum. Visiting Nature & Wildlife Tours and Ljubljanica River will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Ljubljana side-trips: Bled (Zipline, Straža Bled, &more), Church of St. John the Baptist - Zupnijska cerkev sv. Janeza Krstnika (in Škofja Loka) and Old Town Centre of Radovljica (in Radovljica). There's lots more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, sample the tasty concoctions at Union Experience, get a sense of history and politics at Town Hall, and walk around Tivoli Park.

Cycling may be one of the best ways to tour Maribor, a great base for exploring the surrounding area and conquering Pohorje Mountains.
Kick off your visit on the 16th (Sat): take in the dramatic natural features at Pyramid Archaeological Site, then examine the collection at Ptuj Castle, and then examine the collection at Old Vine House. Keep things going the next day: indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, then step into the grandiose world of Celje Castle, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of St. John The Baptist.

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
On the 18th (Mon), don't miss a visit to Tartini Square, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. George's Church, then learn more about the world around you at Magical World of Shells Museum, and finally make a trip to Walls of Piran. Here are some ideas for day two: examine the collection at Izolana - House of the Sea, admire the striking features of Praetorian Palace, then pause for some serene contemplation at Koper Cathedral and Bell Tower, and finally steep yourself in history at Muda Gate.

At the very heart of picturesque Soca Valley, Kobarid delivers some of the most stunning views of Slovenia's highest peaks, as well as a chance to enjoy some exciting alpine rivers.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kayaking & Canoeing and Soča Valley. Step out of the city life by going to Kozjak Waterfall and Boka Waterfall. Change things up with a short trip to Virje Waterfall in Bovec (about 36 minutes away).
