15 days in Ljubljana & Maribor-Pohorje Itinerary

Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.

Venture out of the city with trips to Bohinjsko Jezero (Golden Horn Fairyland, Lake Bohinj, &more), St. Anne's Friary (in Koper) and Bled (Ojstrica, Bled Island, &more). Spend the 30th (Wed) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Zurich, Switzerland to Ljubljana is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. In December, daily temperatures in Ljubljana can reach 5°C, while at night they dip to -3°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Thu) early enough to catch the shuttle to Maribor.

Cycling may be one of the best ways to tour Maribor, a great base for exploring the surrounding area and conquering Pohorje Mountains.

Take a shuttle from Ljubljana to Maribor in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. January in Maribor sees daily highs of 5°C and lows of -4°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
