Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.Get in touch with nature at Škocjan Caves and Sečovlje Salina Nature Park. Magical World of Shells Museum and St. Anne's Friary are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of Piran to go to Hrastovlje and see Hrastovlje Church of the Holy Trinity, which is approximately 40 minutes away. There's lots more to do: see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, identify plant and animal life at Strunjan Nature Reserve, get engrossed in the history at Tonina House, and don't miss a visit to Walls of Piran.

Traveling from Piran in August, things will get slightly colder in Ljubljana: highs are around 31°C and lows about 15°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 21st (Mon) early enough to catch the flight back home.
