Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Ljubljana Old Town and Cathedral of St. Nicholas. Get in touch with nature at Postojna Cave and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Get out of town with these interesting Ljubljana side-trips: Natural Bathing Place Lajšt (in Spodnja Idrija) and Predjama Castle (in Postojna). In August, daily temperatures in Ljubljana can reach 31°C, while at night they dip to 15°C. On the 21st (Sun), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Bled.

Bled — 3 nights

The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.
Take a break from the city and head to Vintgar Gorge and Parasailing & Paragliding. Popular historic sites such as Bled Castle and France Preseren's Birth House - museum are in your itinerary. Change things up with these side-trips from Bled: Kranjska Gora (Lake Jasna & Vršič Pass). Getting from Ljubljana to Bled by car takes about an hour. Other options: take a bus; or take a train. In August, plan for daily highs up to 31°C, and evening lows to 15°C. You'll have a few hours on the 24th (Wed) to wrap things up before traveling to Bohinjsko Jezero.

Bohinjsko Jezero — 3 nights

The mirror-like waters of the largest glacial lake in Slovenia make Bohinjsko Jezero one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country.
Get some cultural insight at Outdoor Museum Kolovrat (muzej na prostem) and Church of St. Nicholas. Get some historical perspective at Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit and Ukanc Military Cemetery. When in Bohinjsko Jezero, make a side trip to see Davča Ethnographic Museum in Železniki, approximately Železniki away. Bohinjsko Jezero is just a stone's throw from Bled. Expect a daytime high around 28°C in August, and nighttime lows around 14°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sat) so you can go by car to Piran.

Piran — 5 nights

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
St. George's Church and Hrastovlje Church of the Holy Trinity will appeal to history buffs. Step out of the city life by going to Strunjan Nature Reserve and Škocjan Caves. Change things up with a short trip to Lipica Stud Farm in Lipica (about 50 minutes away). There's much more to do: kick back and relax at Portorož Beach, get a taste of the local shopping with Nika's Tiny House, discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and make a trip to Tartini Square.

You can drive from Bohinjsko Jezero to Piran in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Bohinjsko Jezero in August, things will get a bit warmer in Piran: highs are around 34°C and lows about 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 1st (Thu) to allow time for travel back home.
