Cycling may be one of the best ways to tour Maribor, a great base for exploring the surrounding area and conquering Pohorje Mountains.
Celje Castle and Celje Cathedral of Saint Daniel are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get some historical perspective at St. Joseph Church and Trg Svobode Square. Venture out of the city with trips to Fala Hydroelectric Power Plant Museum (in Fala), Spas (in Podčetrtek) and Ptuj Castle (in Ptuj). Leisnig, Germany to Maribor is an approximately 9.5-hour combination of flight and car. You can also do a combination of car and flight; or drive.
