The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.
Take a break from the city and head to Mala Osojnica and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Get some historical perspective at Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary and Church of St. Lenart. Get out of town with these interesting Bled side-trips: Rateče (Planica Nordic Centre & Zipline & Three Country Border), Kranjska Gora (Ajdovska Deklica, Zelenci Nature Reserve, &more) and Church of St John the Baptist (in Bohinjsko Jezero). Cycling may be one of the best ways to tour Maribor, a great base for exploring the surrounding area and conquering Pohorje Mountains.
Step out of the city life by going to Pyramid Archaeological Site and Mariborsko Pohorje Ski Resort. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Vinogradi Horvat - Vineyards Horvat and Plague Column. Explore Maribor's surroundings by going to Velenje (The Coal Mining Museum of Slovenia, Velenje Museum, &more), Mozirski Gaj Gardens (in Mozirje) and Peca Underground - Tourist Mine and Museum (in Mežica). There's lots more to do: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Franciscan Church, make a trip to Main Square, appreciate the extensive heritage of Slovenska Ulica street, and let the kids burn off some steam at Maribor City Park.

Bovec — 4 nights

In the north-west part of Slovenia, Bovec sits in an area known for its rich and colorful culture and history.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Soča Valley and Virje Waterfall. Visiting Boka Waterfall and Climbing Tours will get you outdoors. Go for a jaunt from Bovec to Tolmin to see Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit about 32 minutes away. There's still lots to do: get outside with Outdoor Activities, sample the tasty concoctions at Thirsty River Brewing, don't miss a visit to Fort Hermann, and pause for some serene contemplation at St Mary of the Assumption church.
