Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Get out of town with these interesting Piran side-trips: Magma X (in Nova Gorica), Škocjan Caves (in Škocjan) and Boris Lisjak Winery (in Dutovlje). There's lots more to do: experience rural life at Fonda Fish Farm, make a trip to Tartini Square, see the interesting displays at Koper Regional Museum, and enjoy the sand and surf at Strunjan Nature Reserve.
