A resort town on the country's scenic Adriatic coastline, Portoroz offers many spas with all kinds of therapeutic treatments, many based on the brine and mud from the area's salt pans.
Attractions like Tartini Square and Magical World of Shells Museum make great kid-friendly stops. Explore Portorož's surroundings by going to Military Museum Tabor (in Lokev) and Škocjan Caves (in Škocjan). Bring the kids along to Vršič Pass and Lake Jasna. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bovec: Tolmin (Tolmin Gorge & Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit) and Outdoor Museum Kolovrat (muzej na prostem) (in Volče).
