Piran — 2 nights

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Kick off your visit on the 4th (Mon): see the interesting displays at Izolana - House of the Sea, then admire the landmark architecture of Church of St. Maurus, then enjoy the sand and surf at Svetilnik Beach, and finally head outdoors with Šalet Tunnel. On your second day here, take in the exciting artwork at Nika's Tiny House, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. George's Church, then see the interesting displays at Sergej Mašera Maritime Museum, and finally see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

If you are flying in from Sweden, the closest major aiport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. In July, plan for daily highs up to 35°C, and evening lows to 21°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Nova Gorica.
