Portorož — 3 nights

A resort town on the country's scenic Adriatic coastline, Portoroz offers many spas with all kinds of therapeutic treatments, many based on the brine and mud from the area's salt pans.
Step out of the city life by going to Scuba & Snorkeling and Portorož Beach. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Magical World of Shells Museum and Parish Church of the Virgin Mary of the Rosary. The adventure continues: make a trip to Parenzana, take in the spiritual surroundings of St. George's Church, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Koper Cathedral and Bell Tower, and see the interesting displays at Izolana - House of the Sea.

Leipzig, Germany to Portorož is an approximately 8.5-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. In May, Portorož is a bit warmer than Leipzig - with highs of 26°C and lows of 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Tue) early enough to drive to Novo Mesto.

Novo Mesto — 3 nights

Novo Mesto is the city on a bend of the Krka River in the City Municipality of Novo Mesto in southeastern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia. Escape the urban bustle at Otočec Castle Park and Golf Grad Otočec. Step off the beaten path and head to Žumberak Mountains and Kandija Bridge. There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Museum of Dolenjska, get a sense of history and politics at Mestna hisa - Rotovz, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Franciscan Monastery, and steep yourself in history at Breg.

The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.
Step off the beaten path and head to St. Martin's Parish Church and Peričnik Falls. Take a break from the city and head to Mala Osojnica and Mostnica Gorge. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bled: Bohinjsko Jezero (Vogel & Lake Bohinj) and Kranjska Gora (Lake Jasna & Vršič Pass). Spend the 14th (Sat) exploring nature at Triglav National Park. The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Old Town Centre of Radovljica, tour the pleasant surroundings at Straža Bled, step off the mainland to explore Bled Island, and take in the awesome beauty at Viševnik.
