A resort town on the country's scenic Adriatic coastline, Portoroz offers many spas with all kinds of therapeutic treatments, many based on the brine and mud from the area's salt pans.
Get out of town with these interesting Portorož side-trips: Lipica Stud Farm (in Lipica) and Škocjan Caves (in Škocjan). There's lots more to do: make a trip to Tartini Square, take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Anne's Friary, identify plant and animal life at Strunjan Nature Reserve, and admire the striking features of Benečanka Venetian House.

Traveling by car from Bled to Portorož takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Bled in July, plan for a bit warmer nights in Portorož, with lows around 20°C. On the 29th (Thu), you're off to Ljubljana.

Ljubljana

Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Ljubljana: Rakov Škocjan Landscape Park (in Rakek), Lake Petelinje (in Pivka) and Predjama Castle (in Postojna). There's lots more to do: wander the streets of Ljubljana Old Town, take in the views from Dragon Bridge, explore the activities along Ljubljanica River, and explore the historical opulence of Ljubljana Castle.

Cycling may be one of the best ways to tour Maribor, a great base for exploring the surrounding area and conquering Pohorje Mountains.
Venture out of the city with trips to Pegasus Statue (in Rogaška Slatina), Church of Sv. Roka (in Šmarje Pri Jelšah) and Ptuj (Orpheus Monument & Ptuj Castle). And it doesn't end there: learn about winemaking at Vinogradi Horvat - Vineyards Horvat, walk around Three Ponds, step into the grandiose world of Celje Castle, and make a trip to Green Gold Beer Fountain.
