Portorož — 3 nights

A resort town on the country's scenic Adriatic coastline, Portoroz offers many spas with all kinds of therapeutic treatments, many based on the brine and mud from the area's salt pans.Get outdoors at Portorož Beach and Scuba & Snorkeling. Step off the beaten path and head to Strunjan Nature Reserve and Fonda Fish Farm. Explore Portorož's surroundings by going to Škocjan Caves (in Škocjan), Lipica Stud Farm (in Lipica) and Divača Cave (in Divača). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Svetilnik Beach, contemplate the long history of Muda Gate, identify plant and animal life at Škocjanski Zatok Nature Reserve, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Koper City Beach.

Grenoble, France to Portorož is an approximately 10-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and car. Plan for somewhat warmer temperatures traveling from Grenoble in July, with highs in Portorož at 35°C and lows at 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Wed) so you can drive to Bovec.
