Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Take a break from Piran with a short trip to Magma X in Nova Gorica, about 1h 15 min away. There's still lots to do: make a trip to Tartini Square, examine the collection at Sergej Mašera Maritime Museum, identify plant and animal life at Strunjan Nature Reserve, and kick back and relax at Svetilnik Beach.

You can drive from Ljubljana to Piran in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus.
