Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Cankarjevo Nabrežje and Anthony's Shaft Mining Museum. Discover out-of-the-way places like Celje Castle and Beer Tastings & Tours. Venture out of the city with trips to Eko Muzej (in Žalec) and St. Joseph Church (in Celje). Spend the 19th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Dedicate the 21st (Mon) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's still lots to do: scramble along the landscape with a canyoning and rapelling tour, contemplate the waterfront views at Ljubljanica River, take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of St. Nicholas, and stroll around Tivoli Park.

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Get in touch with nature at Strunjan Nature Reserve and Scuba & Snorkeling. Step off the beaten path and head to First of May Square and Muda Gate. Change things up with a short trip to Socerb Castle in Crni Kal (about 42 minutes away). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Church of St. Maurus, pause for some serene contemplation at Krstilnica sv.Janeza Krstnika, examine the collection at Sergej Mašera Maritime Museum, and contemplate the long history of Fontico.
