Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Ljubljanica River and Celje Castle. Attractions like Cathedral of St. Nicholas and Franciscan Church of the Annunciation make great kid-friendly stops. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Ljubljana: Rakov Škocjan Landscape Park (in Rakek), Cross Cave (in Grahovo) and Škofja Loka (Puštal Castle, Špital and the Špital Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, &more). Spend the 19th (Tue) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Nantes, France to Ljubljana is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and shuttle; or drive. In July, plan for daily highs up to 32°C, and evening lows to 17°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 25th (Mon) so you can go by car to Koper.

Koper — 5 nights

A bridge between the Mediterranean and alpine regions of Slovenia, Koper is a small town with big appeal.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Strunjan Nature Reserve and Svetilnik Beach. Visit Muda Gate and Socerb Castle for their historical value. There's lots more to do: identify plant and animal life at Škocjanski Zatok Nature Reserve, don't miss a visit to Church of St. Maurus, admire the striking features of Piazza Tito, and kick back and relax at Koper City Beach.

Traveling by car from Ljubljana to Koper takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Traveling from Ljubljana in July, expect a bit warmer with lows of 20°C in Koper. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Sat) so you can drive to Bovec.

In the north-west part of Slovenia, Bovec sits in an area known for its rich and colorful culture and history.
