Piran — 3 nights

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Escape the urban bustle at Strunjan Nature Reserve and Scuba & Snorkeling. Popular historic sites such as Koper Cathedral and Bell Tower and First of May Square are in your itinerary. Change things up with a short trip to Hrastovlje Church of the Holy Trinity in Hrastovlje (about 40 minutes away). And it doesn't end there: steep yourself in history at Muda Gate, identify plant and animal life at Škocjanski Zatok Nature Reserve, kick back and relax at Svetilnik Beach, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Marija Snežne Church.

Ljubljana to Piran is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Plan for a bit warmer nights when traveling from Ljubljana in May since evenings lows in Piran dip to 13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Vipava.
