Cycling may be one of the best ways to tour Maribor, a great base for exploring the surrounding area and conquering Pohorje Mountains.
Visiting Pyramid Archaeological Site and Velenje Beach will get you outdoors. Step off the beaten path and head to Spas and Old Vine House. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Maribor: Celje Castle (in Celje), Ptuj Castle (in Ptuj) and Eko Muzej (in Žalec). There's still lots to do: do a tasting at Dveri Pax Winery, appreciate the history behind National Liberation Monument, and indulge your senses at some of the top wineries in the area.

In the north-west part of Slovenia, Bovec sits in an area known for its rich and colorful culture and history.
Step out of the city life by going to Zipline and Vršič Pass. Do some cultural sightseeing at Kobarid Museum and St Mary of the Assumption church. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bovec: Planica Valley (in Rateče), Tolmin (Tolmin Gorge & Tolmin Castle on Kozlov Rob) and Zgornjesavska Valley (in Kranjska Gora).
