Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Get out of town with these interesting Ljubljana side-trips: Bled (Bled Castle & Parasailing & Paragliding), Vintgar Gorge (in Zgornje Gorje) and Postojna Cave (in Postojna). There's still lots to do: visit Ljubljana Old Town, walk around Tivoli Park, indulge your thirst for a good beer at Union Experience, and have fun and explore at House of Illusions.

Vienna, Austria to Ljubljana is an approximately 4-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and shuttle; or take a shuttle. In September, plan for daily highs up to 23°C, and evening lows to 11°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Thu) so you can go by car to Portorož.

A resort town on the country's scenic Adriatic coastline, Portoroz offers many spas with all kinds of therapeutic treatments, many based on the brine and mud from the area's salt pans.
Kick off your visit on the 1st (Fri): make a trip to Tartini Square, then walk around Strunjan Nature Reserve, and then kick back and relax at Portorož Beach.

Getting from Ljubljana to Portorož by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus.
