5 days in Ljubljana & Bled Itinerary

Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.

Kick off your visit on the 6th (Tue): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Cathedral of St. Nicholas, step into the grandiose world of Ljubljana Castle, get a sense of history and politics at Town Hall, take a stroll through Ljubljana Old Town, then take in the views from Triple Bridge, and finally take in the views from Dragon Bridge. On the next day, step into the grandiose world of Predjama Castle, explore the fascinating underground world of Postojna Cave, then contemplate the waterfront views at Ljubljanica River, and finally stroll around Tivoli Park.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major aiport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. In October, daily temperatures in Ljubljana can reach 18°C, while at night they dip to 6°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Bled.

The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.

Start off your visit on the 8th (Thu): fly like a bird with a parasailing or paragliding tour, then step off the mainland to explore Bled Island, and then contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Bohinj. On the 9th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: hike along Vintgar Gorge, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Martin's Parish Church, then kick your exploration up a notch at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, and finally stroll through Straža Bled.

Traveling by car from Ljubljana to Bled takes an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. October in Bled sees daily highs of 18°C and lows of 7°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 10th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive back home.
