Nature lovers can spend much of their Mozirje vacation hiking or cycling the tracks and roads of the flat areas around town.
Change things up with these side-trips from Mozirje: Terme Čatež (in Brežice), Celje (City Park, Celje Castle, &more) and Olimje Chocolate Shop (in Podčetrtek). Gornji Grad is the largest settlement and the administrative centre of the Municipality of Gornji Grad in Slovenia.GeographyIt is located on the Dreta River, a right tributary of the Savinja, in the southeastern foothills of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps, about 36km east of Celje and 55km north of Ljubljana. Kick off your visit on the 15th (Fri): take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Velika Planina, step into the grandiose world of Bogenšperk Castle, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Stična Abbey. Keep things going the next day: see the interesting displays at Peca Underground - Tourist Mine and Museum and then get a new perspective on nature at Vulkanija Adventure Park.
