Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Get out of town with these interesting Piran side-trips: Military Museum Tabor (in Lokev) and Škocjan Caves (in Škocjan). There's still lots to do: learn more about the world around you at Magical World of Shells Museum, make a trip to Walls of Piran, view the masterpieces at Loza Gallery, and experience rural life at Fonda Fish Farm.

Warsaw, Poland to Piran is an approximately 7-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Warsaw in January: high temperatures in Piran hover around 11°C and lows are around 1°C. Getting from Piran to Ljubljana by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of bus and train. Traveling from Piran in January, things will get slightly colder in Ljubljana: highs are around 5°C and lows about -3°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Wed) so you can catch the flight back home.
