You can drive from Ljubljana to Piran in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Ljubljana in December: high temperatures in Piran hover around 12°C and lows are around 3°C. On the 18th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
