Bring the kids along to Triglav National Park and Ljubljana Castle. Lisbon, Portugal to Ljubljana is an approximately 8.5-hour combination of flight and shuttle. You can also fly; or drive. Traveling from Lisbon to Ljubljana, you'll lose 1 hour due to the time zone difference. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from Lisbon in August, with highs in Ljubljana at 31°C and lows at 15°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Bovec.

Getting from Ljubljana to Bovec by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: do a combination of train, bus, and taxi; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 28°C in August, and nighttime lows around 14°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Zgornje Gorje.

Nestled in a green valley and surrounded by rolling hills, Zgornje Gorje is dominated by the spire of the parish church in the center of the village.
Kick off your visit on the 11th (Thu): Head underground at Pokljuka Gorge and then hike along Vintgar Gorge.
