A resort town on the country's scenic Adriatic coastline, Portoroz offers many spas with all kinds of therapeutic treatments, many based on the brine and mud from the area's salt pans.
On the 10th (Tue), have fun and explore at Magical World of Shells Museum, tour the pleasant surroundings at Zusterna Beach, pause for some serene contemplation at Parish Church of the Virgin Mary of the Rosary, then kick back and relax at Strunjan Nature Reserve, and finally kick back and relax at Portorož Beach. On the next day, stroll through Svetilnik Beach, Head underground at Škocjan Caves, and then view the masterpieces at Loza Gallery.

You can drive from Bovec to Portorož in 2.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or take a bus. Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Bring the kids along to Ljubljana Old Town and Parasailing & Paragliding. Ljubljana Castle and Bled Castle will appeal to history buffs. Traveling from Portorož in August, things will get a bit cooler in Ljubljana: highs are around 31°C and lows about 15°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 15th (Sun) early enough to go by car back home.
