Together with the Krokar primeval forest, which is inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the Kočevje Region makes for a truly mystical forest landscape.

Venture out of the city with trips to Lake Bloke (in Nova Vas), Ivančna Gorica (Open-Air Museum of Josip Jurčič & Pristava Tourist Village) and Slivnica (in Cerknica).
