Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Head to Galerija Mikame and Huberto Siroka ateljefor some retail therapy. Get some cultural insight at Ljubljana Old Town and Bled Castle. Get out of town with these interesting Ljubljana side-trips: Bled (Mala Osojnica, Bled Island, &more), Rakov Škocjan Landscape Park (in Rakek) and Vintgar Gorge (in Zgornje Gorje). There's still lots to do: explore the fascinating underground world of Postojna Cave, view the masterpieces at Tourist Information Centre - Galerija, snap pictures at Triple Bridge, and explore the historical opulence of Ljubljana Castle.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Ljubljana is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. When traveling from Amsterdam in July, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Ljubljana: temperatures range from 32°C by day to 17°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Wed) early enough to drive to Bovec.

On the 22nd (Fri), explore the fascinating underground world of Škocjan Caves, then step into the grandiose world of Predjama Castle, and then step into the grandiose world of Socerb Castle. On the next day, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. George's Church, then take in the exciting artwork at Nika's Tiny House, and then view the masterpieces at Loza Gallery.
