9 days in Bovec & Piran Itinerary

In the north-west part of Slovenia, Bovec sits in an area known for its rich and colorful culture and history.

Step off the beaten path and head to Soča Valley and Zelenci Nature Reserve. Kids will enjoy Zipline and Virje Waterfall. Venture out of the city with trips to Martuljek Waterfalls (in Gozd Martuljek) and Planica Nordic Centre & Zipline (in Rateče). And it doesn't end there: admire the sheer force of Boka Waterfall, add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour, scramble along the landscape with a canyoning and rapelling tour, and explore the activities along Source of the Soča River.

Brussels, Belgium to Bovec is an approximately 8.5-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and car. July in Bovec sees daily highs of 29°C and lows of 15°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Thu) so you can drive to Piran.

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.

Bring the kids along to Strunjan Nature Reserve and Scuba & Snorkeling. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cross Cave and Rakov Škocjan Landscape Park. Explore Piran's surroundings by going to Postojna Cave (in Postojna) and Škocjan Caves (in Škocjan). There's much more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Svetilnik Beach, look for all kinds of wild species at Škocjanski Zatok Nature Reserve, walk around Sečovlje Salina Nature Park, and admire the landmark architecture of Praetorian Palace.

Traveling by car from Bovec to Piran takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a bus. Traveling from Bovec in July, things will get somewhat warmer in Piran: highs are around 35°C and lows about 21°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 31st (Mon) so you can go by car back home.
